Most “upcoming crypto airdrops” lists you’ll find right now are already out of date, built around tokens whose claim windows closed months ago. As of September 2026, we’re focusing on airdrops that are still live, have a credible reason to happen, or have a concrete, dated development pointing toward a future token distribution.

You’ll see what each project has actually confirmed, what you can do today to improve your chances of qualifying, and (because claiming the token is only half the job) what to do with it once it lands in your wallet.

Top crypto airdrops running right now

These are projects with a live points system or an already-confirmed distribution plan that hasn’t finished paying out, as of September 2026. A live points program is not a guarantee, as some of these could pause or restructure their next season without notice.

1. Hyperliquid

Hyperliquid is an on-chain perpetuals exchange (a platform for trading crypto contracts without an expiry date) that combines the speed of a centralized exchange with self-custody, so your funds stay in your wallet while you trade.

Its first airdrop, in November 2024, distributed roughly 31% of HYPE’s total supply directly to around 94,000 wallets, with no VC allocation ahead of the public, one of the largest single airdrops in crypto history.

Hyperliquid’s tokenomics set aside about 38.9% of the total HYPE supply for future community distributions, in addition to the tokens already given out in Season 1.

The project is currently in Season 3 of its points program, and no snapshot date has been announced yet. That means you can still earn points now, rather than chasing an airdrop for a season that hasn’t even started.

How to improve your eligibility: Trade perpetuals or spot on the platform (this is what drove most of Season 1’s rewards).

2. Aster

Aster is a decentralized trading platform focused on perpetuals and spot markets, with its rewards system built around trading activity and points. It has positioned itself as a competitor to Hyperliquid.

Aster’s tokenomics reserve 53.5% of the total ASTER supply for airdrops, making community distribution a substantial part of the token’s design.

Stage 6 distributed 64 million ASTER to participants, with users able to choose between an immediate claim and a fully vested claim. As of today, the immediate claim window has already closed, and the vested claim window hasn’t opened yet; it begins November 4, 2026.

There’s no live claim action available on Aster right now, but if you qualified for Stage 6, mark your calendar for November so you don’t miss the vesting window when it opens.

How to improve your eligibility: If you already qualified for Stage 6, verify your allocation through Aster’s official claim interface and keep track of the November vesting window. Do not trade purely to manufacture points based on an old Stage 6 guide; the campaign itself has already moved past its farming phase.

3. Meteora

Meteora is a Solana-based liquidity protocol built around automated market-making and liquidity-management products. Unlike projects that are still teasing a token, Meteora already launched MET in October 2025, so what matters now is its ongoing Season 2 distribution and claim window.

Meteora’s second LP Stimulus Season ran from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, with 20 million MET, roughly 2% of total supply, allocated to eligible users according to points earned.

Points were based primarily on fees generated through eligible DLMM and DAMM v2 pools, with different weighting depending on the pool type. The Season 2 claim window opened July 21, 2026, and runs until October 21, 2026.

How to improve your eligibility: For any future Meteora incentive campaign, provide liquidity through eligible pools and pay attention to which pools actually generate qualifying fees. More volatile pairs can generate more fees, but they also expose liquidity providers to impermanent loss, so chasing the highest-fee pool is not the same thing as getting free money.

4. Plume

Plume is an Ethereum-based Layer 2 focused on bringing real-world assets on-chain, including tokenized treasuries, private credit, and other yield-bearing assets. Its ecosystem combines those assets with DeFi applications, giving users ways to trade, lend against, and earn from tokenized real-world assets.

Plume’s Season 2 airdrop claim is already live, but there is no published official end date for the Season 2 claim. Some secondary sources have circulated estimated deadlines, but those dates are not supported by the project’s own published information, so don’t treat them as confirmed.

How to improve your eligibility: If you participated in the activities that qualified for Season 2, check the official Plume claim interface and verify your allocation rather than relying on third-party claim links. If you are looking for future Plume rewards, use the ecosystem’s applications genuinely and pay attention to official announcements rather than farming transactions solely because an airdrop tracker says another season might follow.

5. Axis Robotics

Axis Robotics is a physical-AI data platform where users complete simulated robotics tasks that generate training data for AI systems. Its rewards system is built around Axis Points, which the project says will be one input into a future Community Contributor Airdrop, although it has not guaranteed an allocation or announced a $AXIS TGE date.

Axis launched a Binance Wallet campaign running August 26 – September 25, 2026, with a separate pool of 1.5 million Axis Points. There is also a Kaito creator campaign whose first epoch runs through September 18.

How to improve your eligibility: Complete legitimate robotics-data tasks through Axis Hub, focusing on the quality and diversity of your submissions rather than simply doing as many easy tasks as possible. If you have a Binance Keyless Wallet, the dedicated Binance campaign is another route to earn points, but only natively created Keyless wallets qualify.

Top crypto airdrops worth watching before they launch

These projects have no confirmed token yet, but each has a real, dated, public signal that one is coming. Treat every one of these as speculative; a public statement of intent is not a launch date.

6. Polymarket

Polymarket is a prediction-market platform where users trade contracts tied to real-world outcomes, from politics and economics to sports and other events. It has become one of crypto’s most visible consumer applications, which makes its potential token particularly interesting.

Polymarket’s CMO, Matthew Modabber, publicly confirmed in October 2025 that both a token and an airdrop are planned. In February 2026, Polymarket’s parent company filed U.S. trademark applications for “POLY” and “$POLY”, a legal step that typically precedes a launch by 6 to 18 months, though it is not itself a launch date.

As of the most recent public confirmation, the snapshot has not been taken, meaning the participation window is still open.

How to improve your standing: Trade across a genuine spread of markets rather than concentrating in one category. Note that Polymarket has also had real regulatory friction in the U.S. historically, so a launch timeline tied to its U.S. relaunch is a genuine variable, not a formality.

7. Base

Base is Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, one of the most active L2s by transaction volume and DeFi activity, hosting protocols like Aerodrome and Uniswap. It has grown into a broad ecosystem of DeFi, consumer applications, trading platforms, and creator-focused projects.

The token signal here is unusually direct but also deliberately cautious. At BaseCamp 2025, Base announced that it was beginning to explore a network token, while stressing that it had no definitive plans to share around timing, design, or governance.

That means Base is worth watching, but it is not a confirmed upcoming airdrop.

How to improve your standing: Explore native Base applications, make genuine on-chain transactions, and interact with different parts of the ecosystem over time. If a future distribution rewards users, organic history is likely to be more defensible than a wallet created yesterday to execute a checklist.

8. MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the most widely used self-custodial crypto wallets, with more than 30 million monthly active users.

Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin has repeatedly and publicly said a MASK token is coming; he said as much again in September 2025. MetaMask launched its Rewards program in 2026, allowing users to earn points and participate in trading and swapping campaigns. Its current Rewards product continues to offer campaigns and benefits inside the wallet.

How to improve your standing: If you already use MetaMask, continue using its built-in swap and other legitimate features when they make sense for you. Don’t spend money or pay unnecessary transaction fees solely because an influencer says MetaMask is about to take a snapshot.

9. OpenSea (delayed)

OpenSea is the largest NFT marketplace in history, now repositioning itself as a broader multi-chain trading platform.

They confirmed a SEA token back in February 2025 and, in October 2025, set a Q1 2026 launch with 50% of supply going to the community. In March 2026, OpenSea’s own CEO announced an indefinite delay, citing weak crypto market conditions, and wound down its existing rewards-wave program in the process. As of the most recent available reporting, no new launch date has been set.

Where to Track New Airdrops Before Everyone Else

A curated list goes stale the moment a new project appears; these dashboards update in real time and are worth bookmarking alongside this guide:

  • CoinMarketCap Airdrops is useful for official campaigns and historical distributions, although its current airdrop page can be quiet between campaigns.
  • Airdrops.io remains one of the more comprehensive directories, separating ongoing, confirmed, and speculative opportunities and updating its listings frequently.
  • CryptoRank’s Drophunting dashboard is particularly useful if you want more than simple social quests. It tracks potential airdrops alongside testnets, protocol activity, staking opportunities, nodes, and other reward mechanisms.
  • AirdropAlert is one of the longer-running dedicated airdrop trackers, with detailed per-project guides
  • Galxe and Zealy are different from ordinary aggregator sites because projects can use them to distribute quests directly. Zealy, for example, has its own points and reward system alongside community quests.
  • DefiLlama’s airdrops page is particularly useful for finding tokenless protocols that may eventually distribute tokens. Its current directory tracks protocols and links through to known claim pages, making it useful for discovering opportunities rather than blindly following social-media lists.

Pick two or three, check them consistently, and always verify a campaign against the project’s own official channels before connecting a wallet. Once you’re tracking the right projects, the next question is how to actually qualify.

How to qualify for these upcoming airdrops

Most airdrops ask for some combination of the same basic actions: sign up on the project’s platform, connect a wallet, complete a handful of tasks (a swap, a stake, joining a Discord or Telegram), and stay active over time, since many projects now review historical activity before finalizing who qualifies.

Before you start, a little preparation goes a long way:

  • Keep a small amount of crypto in your wallet for gas or network fees
  • Use a separate wallet just for airdrop farming, so a scam or a bad approval doesn’t touch your main holdings
  • Screenshot your activity as you go, in case a project later asks for proof
  • Only ever use links from a project’s official site or verified X (Twitter) account

One more thing worth knowing in 2026 is that projects are filtering harder for bot-like behavior than they used to. The rule real farmers repeat to each other is that a wallet with consistent, varied activity over time reads as a real user; one that only ever does the bare minimum, on a schedule, reads as a script and gets filtered out before the snapshot even happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a crypto airdrop?

An airdrop is a token distribution tied to something you did- trading, holding a wallet, providing liquidity- usually run directly by the project itself. A giveaway is typically run by an individual, influencer, or exchange, picks winners at random, and often asks you to follow, retweet, or tag friends. Airdrops reward participation, while a giveaway rewards luck.

Are airdrops really free?

The tokens themselves are, but qualifying almost always takes real effort, through swaps, stakes, or ongoing activity, and you’ll pay small network fees along the way.

Can I join many airdrops at once?

Yes, you can, but keep a separate wallet for farming and track what you’ve done for each project; projects increasingly check for genuine, varied activity rather than identical patterns across many wallets.

Are airdropped tokens actually worth anything?

Sometimes substantially. Hyperliquid’s first airdrop created wallets worth a lot. Other airdrops end up worth very little. There’s no way to know in advance, which is exactly why chasing a dead claim window costs you more than it seems: the upside, when it happens, is real.

What is a snapshot?

A snapshot is the moment a project records which wallets qualify, based on activity up to that point. Activity after the snapshot usually doesn’t count for that specific distribution, which is why “no snapshot date announced” means the window is still genuinely open.

Are airdropped tokens taxed in Nigeria?

Yes. Under Nigeria’s current tax framework, receiving an airdrop with market value counts as income, taxed at rates from 7% to 25% depending on your total income, separate from any additional capital gains tax owed later if you sell at a profit. See 2026 Crypto Tax in Nigeria for the full breakdown.
