Breet vs Monica: Which Crypto-to-Cash App Should You Use?

Monica Cash and Breet solve the same core problem in nearly the same way. You send a coin to an address, it converts automatically, and money lands in your bank. No P2P, no order book, no waiting for a buyer. But Breet also lets you buy, swap, hold dollars, and more.

As a crypto platform, part of our job is to understand what other providers are building. My team and I review public documentation, pricing, product flows, and the evidence we can verify. We give credit where it is due, and we state the limits we find. This comparison describes what we found during our review of Monica Cash, what it does well, where it may not fit, and who should consider it.

Note that we did create an account to test Monica Cash's response times, payout speed, support, uptime, and product behaviour.

Disclosure: Breet publishes this comparison and may benefit commercially if you choose Breet. If you find an error, contact partners@breet.io.

Head-to-head comparison

Breet and Monica Cash, feature by feature

Both platforms automate the crypto-to-cash conversion, so the flow itself is comparable. The real separation is in scope. Monica is built to do one job in one country. Breet is built to be the only crypto app you need, across Africa, whether you are cashing out, buying in, swapping, or getting paid by a client.

Where Monica Cash wins

Breet does not ignore these differences.

Monica claimed to charge 0% on fees. Monica's terms commit to "0% platform fee on conversion and 0% fee on the Naira bank withdrawal that follows." If a written zero-fee commitment is the thing you care most about, Monica claims that and Breet does not. But a 0% fee does not mean a conversion is free, because the margin can sit inside the displayed rate.

Monica claims a faster headline payout. Under 60 seconds after on-chain confirmation, against Breet's stated under 5 minutes. Both figures are self-reported, and each platform user rates the payout speed as fast.

Where Monica falls short

Its strength is also its ceiling. A one-way off-ramp works perfectly right up to the moment you want to do something else: buy back in, move between coins, hold dollars through a rate dip, or get paid by a client in crypto. At that point, Monica cannot help, and you need another app. Its coin list is seven. It pays Naira only, so it does not work if you are in Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, or Tanzania.

Where Breet wins

Buy as well as sell. Breet runs both directions on one account, which means no second app and no second KYC when you want to buy crypto like stablecoins.

Swap across 170+ assets. You move between coins inside Breet, without cashing out and buying back in, saving you time and money.

A USD wallet that holds your value. You can sit in dollars until the rate improves, without being forced to take today's rate.

More than 40 assets supported. Direct-to-cash coverage runs from BTC and USDT to DOGE, LTC, BCH, AVAX, TON and XRP, etc.; whatever you were paid in, you can usually cash it without paying for an extra hop first.

Free multi-currency crypto invoicing. You send a client a real invoice, and the crypto converts the moment it lands without chasing payment over WhatsApp with a wallet address.

Ready to switch from Monica to Breet?

1. Download Breet and complete KYC. Get the app on iOS or Android, or use the web dashboard. Registration takes under a minute, and KYC is a single flow.

2. Send your crypto to your Breet wallet address. You get a wallet address for each supported coin. Withdraw from your exchange to the Breet deposit address on the matching network.

3. Get paid to your bank. Conversion runs automatically once the deposit confirms on-chain. Turn on Automatic Settlement, and the naira or cedis reaches your bank without you doing anything else.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I move my crypto from Monica to Breet?

Yes. Withdraw from your exchange to your Breet deposit address on the same network. Conversion runs automatically once it confirms on-chain.

  • Does Breet support more coins than Monica?

Yes. Monica supports 7 coins. Breet supports 12+ coins for direct conversion to cash on and 170+ assets available for swapping.

  • Is Breet cheaper than Monica?

Neither company publishes its rate spread, which is where conversion cost actually sits, so a headline fee percentage does not settle it either way. The only reliable test is to send a small amount through both and compare the naira that lands.

  • Which one is faster?

Monica claims under 60 seconds after confirmation. Breet states under 5 minutes. Both are self-reported, and users have rated each platformโ€™s speed as fast. In practice, on-chain confirmation time for your coin and network is usually the bigger variable for both platforms.

  • Is either platform SEC licensed?

Neither. Breet's Nigerian entity has a pending application to the SEC's Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme. Monica describes itself as aligned with the SEC's VASP framework and is not on the SEC's named approved list. If SEC licensing is your deciding factor, look at Busha or Quidax, both of which hold provisional licences.

  • Can I use Breet in Ghana?

Yes. Breet pays out in naira or cedis, to a bank account or mobile money. Monica pays naira only.

  • Does Monica hold my crypto?

Monica does not hold your crypto; it is an off-ramp platform only.
