Breet vs Apexpay: Which Should You Use to Cash Out Crypto?

Apexpay is a gift card platform that also buys six cryptocurrencies. Breet is a crypto platform that converts your coin to naira or cedis automatically and does not touch gift cards at all. If you are holding an Apple or Steam card, this comparison is short, and Apexpay wins it. If you are holding crypto, the differences are substantial, and most of them come down to what each company is willing to put in writing.

As a crypto platform, part of our job is to understand what other providers are building. My team and I review public documentation, pricing, product flows, and the evidence we can verify. We give credit where it is due, and we state the limits we find. This comparison describes what we found during our review of Apexpay, what it does well, where it may not fit, and who should consider it.

Note that we did create an account to test Apexpay's response times, payout speed, support, uptime, and product behaviour.

Disclosure: Breet publishes this comparison and may benefit commercially if you choose Breet. If you find an error, contact partners@breet.io.

Head-to-head comparison

Apexpay leads with gift cards and treats crypto as a secondary line. Breet is crypto-first and covers selling, buying, swapping, holding in dollars, invoicing, and bill payments. Both serve Nigeria and Ghana.

Where Apexpay wins

Gift cards, and it is not close. Apexpay trades 25+ gift card brands including Apple, Amazon, Steam, Google Play, eBay, Razer Gold, PlayStation and Xbox. Breet does not trade gift cards at all. If that is what you are holding, Apexpay is the right tool, and Breet is not an alternative. This is a real gap in Breet's product, not a technicality.

A longer claimed run in the market. Apexpay's About page says it was created in 2018. Breet could find no independent record confirming that date, so treat it as self-reported, but if accurate, it predates Breet.

Where Apexpay falls short

No regulatory status. Its crypto capabilities are limited: you can’t swap or buy on the platform.

Where Breet wins

Buy and swap, not just sell. Breet runs both directions (buying and selling) with 170+ assets for swapping, meaning you are not limited to a one-way exit.

One automated step instead of two. Crypto converts on arrival and settles to your bank on its own, which means no second withdrawal that carries no published timeframe.

Twice the coins to cash. 12 coins on the iOS listing plus TON and XRP, against Apexpay's six, giving you more coin to sell and swap.

Crypto cards. Spend crypto in-store, withdraw cash from ATMs, pay for subscriptions, anywhere a Visa card is accepted.

Free multi-currency crypto invoicing. You send a client a real invoice, and the payment converts when it lands, without chasing payment over chat.

Crypto gifting. You can spend straight from crypto or send it to a first-time user, which means fewer trips through your bank account with crypto gifting.
