Hi, Breet Gang!
If you’ve been following the Breet 3.0 Series, your last read was how our Design Team brought brilliant visuals to life for this launch (big ups to Chukwumah AND Voz!).
Now, let’s talk about the MVPs behind this upgrade—our people. Every single staff. Because without them, there’d be no Breet 3.0.
My name is Aishat Sulyman, and I’m the People Manager at Breet—aka the glue that holds everything (and everyone) together. If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this wild ride to Breet 3.0, it’s that building a revolutionary product takes more than just brilliant ideas and long hours. It takes people—real, passionate, sometimes stressed, sometimes hilarious, but always hardworking people.
And my goal? To make sure those people are thriving.
Throughout this journey, I’ve worn more hats than I can count—people manager, in-house therapist/counselor, cheerleader, chief vibe curator, and official reminder of everyone’s duties. Whether it was checking in on welfare, sending gentle (or not-so-gentle) reminders when expectations weren’t being met, or making sure our superstars didn’t burn out, I was right there in the trenches. Because a team that feels supported builds amazing products, and Breet 3.0 is the ish.
The Dream Team
To get an outstanding product, we needed outstanding people, and trust me, our team is full of superstars. From product to tech, design to customer support, and even growth, every single person brought their A-game for this (re)launch.
And when I say outstanding, I don't mean they're standing outside, lol. I mean their passion, their resilience, and their willingness to go the extra mile (and sometimes skip a little sleep) to ensure Breet 3.0 would be nothing short of exceptional. It's evident that Breet 3.0 has a lot of work and heart poured into it.
The Drama and Everything In Between
What’s a team without its fair share of drama? While on this journey to 3.0, we had to have difficult conversations when things weren’t up to standard, but even in the setbacks, our eyes never wavered from the ultimate goal.
Beyond the work, health—both mental and physical—was a top priority. Welfare check-ins and health talks became part of our routine because we knew that a great product starts with a healthy team. I remember when my technical lead casually mentioned his eyes were hurting but refused to go to the clinic because “the pain will go.” Ah, what do you mean, sir?! I had to keep policing him until he finally got it checked out. (Don’t worry—he’s fine now, and he can see road well 👀 😂)
Moments like this reminded me that beyond work, people’s well-being always comes first.
Keeping the Team Together (And Sane)
Even superstars need TLC now and then. After battling late-night testing, countless meetings, and drowning in more technical jargon than I could keep up with (PR, PRD, GIT, GIBITI, PWXYZ… IYKYK), I knew we needed to let loose.
Because all coding and no play fit run person mad, we did what any sensible HR team would do—we took the whole squad to the beach. No standups, no Slack messages—just vibes, sand, and a lot of cocktails.
The Heart Behind Breet 3.0
And that’s exactly why Breet 3.0 isn’t just an upgrade—it’s a reflection of the heart, hustle, and humanity behind every inch of the product. Every feature you’ll see has a story—of collaboration, laughter, and people who genuinely care about making a difference.
So here’s to the incredible team that made this happen—and to you, our users, for being part of this journey. We can’t wait for you to experience what we’ve built.
P.S. It’s almost time to wrap up our Breet 3.0 Series, whooosh! To close the curtains, we’ll have our COO, Vivian, take Part 7 and share her own perspective—how everything came together from a leadership and operations standpoint, the tough calls, and the big wins. Continue reading!
