As a crypto platform, part of our job is to understand what other providers are building. My team and I review public documentation, pricing, product flows, and the evidence we can verify. We give credit where it is due, and we state the limits we find. This review explains what we could confirm about KuCoin, what it does well, where it may not fit, and who should consider it.
Note that we did create an account to test KuCoin's response times, payout speed, support, uptime, and product behaviour.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Enormous scale. A self-reported 45 million users across 200+ countries and over 1,000 supported assets, with real depth few competitors can match.
- A real swap feature. Its Convert product lets you trade between cryptocurrencies directly, something many off-ramp-style competitors don't offer.
- A large App Store presence. 4.7 from roughly 3,000 ratings on the storefront checked.
Cons
- A genuinely tangled corporate structure. US regulators (CFTC) and Dubai's VARA have both, independently, named multiple different entities, Peken Global, Mek Global, PhoenixFin, Flashdot, and a separate EU entity, all operating commercially as "KuCoin." The operating entity re-domiciled from Seychelles to the Turks and Caicos Islands in September 2025.
- Suspended Nigeria's naira rail in May 2024. KuCoin's own announcement stated it would "temporarily suspend all P2P Nigerian Naira (NGN) services and Fast Buy service via Naira cards," and no public reinstatement has been confirmed since.
How Breet compares to KuCoin
Naira settles directly, with no suspended feature to work around. Breet's naira payout has been part of the core product since day one, which means there's no "temporarily suspended" rail standing between you and your cash.
Hold your money in dollars. With Breet’s USD wallet, you hold your value when the rate is bad and convert when it’s good.
Automatic settlement. Breet's automatic settlement lets you set a payout once the deposit is confirmed without waiting for a stranger or third party to send money.
Where KuCoin is ahead
- Scale and coin selection, far beyond what any Nigeria-focused platform offers.
- A genuine swap feature, letting you convert directly between assets.
